When did you start Bodybuilding & how did you get started?

I first went to the gym when I was about 15years old with some friends but never took it seriously at all until a took up mma for 2half years were I started to use weights and training extremely intense but this was more for a lean athletic physique it wasn’t till I was 18 till I decided to have a shot at bodybuilding it was just April 2011 I decided to start training for a competition as I have always loved the sport and love the big muscly look

Describe your training program

Monday- chest biceps

Tuesday-back traps

Wednesday-off

Thursday-shoulders

Friday-legs

Saturday-off

Sunday-off

I use this program quite often but to be honest it changes every month to six weeks as aye like to keep the body guessing so I’ll change weights up maybe do light pump reps for a couple of weeks then back to heavy for a month ect! Also I change the body parts to different days every so often as well. I find that going slightly lighter and really concentrating on the squeeze of the muscle really works for me

Describe your diet and supplementation

My diet in off season was a lot of pasta and chicken and lots of red meat about 6 meals a day and a lot of PVL mutant mass aye love that stuff for putting lots of extra calories into my diet in off season

Pre contest diet

But my goals for the distant future are to take it all the way to the pro level I’m extremely focused on achieving this goal

Words from Ben

Would like to thank Lee Moore, Alan Bogle, Dan Aitkin, Dan Clark and Willie Thompson as all of these good mates of mine have helped me in some way in the past year too achieve what I have done so far.

Squat – 230kg x 5, Deadlift – 240 x 6, Incline Dumbbell press – 60kg x 4, Smith Machine Shoulder Press – 100kg x 6

When did you start Bodybuilding & how did you get started?

When I was 15 my mate invited me to come train with him at the gym his boxing club trained at. From that moment I was hooked. I went out and looked for part-time jobs that would allow me to start training at one of my local gyms. At first I had no idea what I was doing, to be honest I trained arms about 4 times a week. Slowly I began to learn from watching the “big guys” and once I had left school at 18 I decided to start training for my first Bodybuilding competition.

Describe your training program

I train Mon-Fri at 5:30am. My week is split as follows,

Mon – Chest/Biceps/Forearms/abs

Tue – Back

Wed – Delts/Triceps/abs

Thur – Legs

Fri – Chest touch up – usually exercises that stretch the muscle, cable flyes etc.

Sat – OFF

Sun – OFF

I don’t have a workout set in stone. I go by how my body feels. I incorporate everything, drops sets, giant sets, supersets, high reps, low reps, FST-7, high volume, partials, 30 second negatives, forced reps. Some days I’ll only do isolation work the next I might only do deadlifts for 3-5 reps for an hour. It keeps me from getting bored and I feel it benefits my physique massively, constantly changing it up.

Describe your diet and supplementation

My off-season diet and pre-contest diet are exactly the same, except my pre-contest diet will have the carbs reduced.

Meal 1

8 egg whites, 2 whole eggs

200g of oats

2 pieces of brown toast

Glass of fruit juice

Meal 2

12.5oz of Chicken breast

300g of white rice

Piece of fruit

Meal 3

250g of whole meal pasta

100g of chili beans

150g of green beans

Piece of fruit

Meal 4

400g of baby potatoes

Spinach

Piece of fruit

Meal 5

12.5oz of Turkey breast

250g of whole meal pasta

Tomatoes

Piece of fruit

Nutritional Values:

Calories: 5280.5 (kcal)

Protein: 654 (g)

Carbohydrates: 615.8 (g)

Fat: 82.68 (g)

Some people may knock my macros and the amount of fruit I eat, but it works for me so that’s the most important thing.

Being a student, I can’t afford the vast array of supplements that others may enjoy. The supplements I use are a Whey protein powder, multivitamins.

When did you start Bodybuilding & how did you get started?

A friend of mine, who was into bodybuilding, told me about exercises, weights and nutrition. First, I wasn’t really interested about. He was so much inspired about his little progresses, that he became happy like a child. Sometimes I even made jokes on him. I couldn’t realize how a person can be so much addicted to a sport.

One day he dragged me to the gym. He showed me how to exercise and what to eat. In 6 months I gained 9 kg. I became bigger and bigger. Even bigger than my friend….

Now, I have changed my mind about bodybuilding. Now I think as my friend did. This sport became a part of my life. Now it is a sense of my life, it makes me move forward every day. I have goals and I will achieve them.

I love this sport, because I love weights. I enjoy it. I enjoy the fact, getting bigger by exercising and eating the right nutrition. I get bigger, faster, stronger and better. It makes me move forward in my life…

When did you start Bodybuilding & how did you get started?

I began bodybuilding during my sophomore year of high school. I had played football my freshman year, and separated my right shoulder 2 times in the same season. I had always had a passion for lifting weights, and working out. After deciding not to play football anymore, I started going to my local YMCA and training 5 days a week. I started reading Muscle & Fitness magazine and put together workout routines for me to do. Bodybuilding is something no one from where I am from does. I am from Wheeling, West Virginia although WV is home to IFBB Pro Erik Fankhouser. After reading some more bodybuilding magazines, I decided I wanted to do this, and adopt this new lifestyle. Being a type 1 diabetic since age 4, I have always had a good education on how to eat well and what to eat to keep you healthy. I was attracted to being a bodybuilder because it was a challenge against yourself, and I loved to always push myself to the max. 2 years later after deciding to become a bodybuilder, I entered my first show 2011 NPC Natural Northern and won the Teen division. The experience was amazing, and I was hooked even more. On March 31, I competed in the 2012 NPC Natural Ohio and placed 2nd in the Teens in a split decision with the judges. Ever since I started bodybuilding, I have had a more positive outlook on life, and have earned the respect of many people not only in the gym but also outside of it. The discipline, hard work, and dedication bodybuilding has taught me so far will help me succeed in life.
