How long have you been dieting for this contest? And how has your diet changed throughout your prep?
Unlike my last show (Europa super show Dallas) I started my “cut” 14 weeks out from the Ronnie Coleman Classic
and will continue dieting through my 2 shows which will both be in April. I am currently 3 weeks out so I have been dieting for 11 weeks. My protein sources have stayed the same pretty much thus far into the prep, although I have changed how many times a day I eat certain meats such as I am only having 1 beef meal a day and am about to cut it out completely at 2 weeks out. My carbs have dropped dramatically and now I am cycling carbs throughout the week. Ranging from 400 grams all the way down to 70 throughout the week.
What types of cardio have you been using and how often and how long do you do it for?
Right now I am doing two 30 min cardio sessions a day. Post workout I use the Stairmaster and first thing in the morning I use sprint intervals for 30 mins.
What is your current weight? And what do you plan to weigh on stage?
I am right around 195-200 right now and will probably come in around 180-185. Which is 10-15 pounds heavier than I weighed in for Europa super show Dallas last august.
How has your training changed since you started your prep?
Obviously being 25 pounds lighter than in the offseason and the lack of carbs the weight goes down a bit, I also incorporate more drop sets and lest rest times between sets. I also tend to hit certain body parts with more machines the closer I am getting to the show, that way I can focus purely on the squeeze and trying to make every muscle fiber “pop.”
What advice would you give to other teens wanting to prepare for a contest?
Find someone who knows what they are doing to help you out. Always know there is more to be learned and have open ears to take helpful advice. And lastly plan out what is going to prepare your body to be in the best condition possible for on stage but be willing to change it if needed.
